Julian, a lone Filipino soldier stationed in Kalayaan Island, is ready to leave Kalayaan, having completed his three months of service. News of a pending coup d' etat in Manila, however, forces him to stay on the island until further notice. With nothing much to do, he spends his waiting hours walking by the beachfront, cleaning his rifle, watching porn and listening to songs on his old radio to overcome his boredom and loneliness. Furthermore, Julian can’t help but sense that ‘someone’ is watching him. He is suddenly joined by two soldiers, the loud-mouth Lucio and newbie Eric, sent from the main island to his station by their commanding officer. The trio’s time together—chatting, drinking, playing basketball and exchanging stories about a ghost soldier—stirs up something in Julian that he’d rather forget. Confronted with a growing loneliness and recollections of a traumatic past, he becomes increasingly withdrawn. His only option for survival is to cope with reality or lose his own sanity.
